We have to endure almost two full months before the 2015-16 NBA season and we are simply craving basketball. The good news is that EuroBasket is on, the European Championship, and there are plenty of NBA players playing for their national teams at the tournament. So, who is making the most noise and truly repping their teams?
Well, for one, Tony Parker of the Spurs became the best scorer in the history of European basketball championships the other day and he’s truly been the leader of an exquisite French team. Utah Jazz’s Rudy Gobert and Spurs’ Boris Diaw are doing their things, making sure their national team is a beast.
Marco Belinelli of the Sacramento Kings, Danilo Gallinari of the Denver Nuggets and Andrea Bargnani of the Brooklyn Nets are leading the Italian national team, beating the Spanish team led by Chicago Bull’s Pau Gasol among others.
Greek national team also features three NBA players in Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nuggets’ Kostas Papanikolau and Kings’ Kostas Koufos. They are also among the most important players on their team and the Greeks are doing well. Better than most predicted.
The newest European addition to the Orlando Magic team, Mario Hezonja is also doing some great things for the Croatian national team, as are Ersan Ilyasova for the Turkish and Jonas Valanciunas for the Lithuanian teams. Unfortunately for the two of them, their supporting casts are not too strong.
Dirk Nowitzki and Dennis Schroeder are doing everything in their power to help the German national team, but they really drew a tough group. Minnesota Timberwolves’ new addition Nemanja Bjelica is also putting in some incredible games for the Serbian national team. Wolves’ fans have a lot to look forward to.
There are other NBA players at the tournament and they are doing more than well on average. Unfortunately for many of them, the rest of their teams are not really top notch and there is only so much that they can do.
