After holding the longest current streak in the NBA without winning a title, the Golden State Warriors are champions once again. Led by league MVP Steph Curry and Finals MVP Andre Iguodala, the Warriors were too much for the undermanned Cavaliers.
Despite leading all players on both teams in just about every statistic, LeBron James was not able to defeat Golden State on his own, and appeared increasingly tired as the series moved on. While Cleveland was able to keep the game close until the end, the Warriors ended up pulling away in the fourth quarter with their balanced attack and stout defense, ending the game and series with a 105-97 win.
Curry joins an elite group of players to win his first NBA Championship in the same year that he was named league MVP for the first time. Even though the Warriors will have much of their squad returning next year, Las Vegas still sees Cleveland as the frontrunner to win next year, with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love expected to come back healthy next season.
