Owned: 20 Great Dunkers In The NBA Today

The dunk might be the single most exciting play in all of sports. Watching many of the incredible athletes in the NBA rise up over the rim and slam down a dunk is well-worth the price of admission.

Whether it’s in the middle of a game or during the dunk competition, this is one play not to be missed. Here is a list of, in our opinion, the 20 best dunkers in the NBA today.

1. Blake Griffin

It’s hard to get people to agree on something as subjective as dunks, but it would be near the top of any list. His dunks come down with incredible power, and nearby players are better off to simply let him do his thing.

Being 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 m) tall, Griffin is a power forward. In just his debut year, he averaged 22.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, becoming just the 20th rookie in NBA to average at least 20 points and 10 rebounds a game in the shot clock era.

He has established himself as a difficult player to defend, proving to be effective coming off the pick and roll, attacking the basket off the dribble, or in the post. His mastery in leaping, and ability to position down low, allowed him to finish in the top 5 in rebounding during his debut season.

That season was highlighted by numerous spectacular dunks. His perfect dunking culminated in winning the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest.
