NBA Announces The Reserves For The All-Star Game

Last Friday, we talked about the 2016 NBA All-Star Game starters and today, we have the rest of the teams for you. Before we tell you who the coach-selected reserves are, why don’t we remind you who the starters are?

For the West we already had Russel Westbrook and Kevin Durant of the OKC Thunder, Kawhi Leonard of the Spurs, Steph Curry of the Warriors and Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers. For the East, we had Dwayne Wade of the Heat, Kyle Lowry of the Raptors, Paul George of the Pacers, Carmely Anthony of the Knicks and LeBron James of the Cavs.

Most people were expecting even more controversy once the reserves were announced, but, at least according to us, there were very few surprises.

The Western Conference reserves are: LaMarcus Aldridge of the San Antonio Spurs, DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors, James Harden of the Houston Rockets and Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Eastern Conference reserves are: Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls, DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors, Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons, Paul Millsap of the Atlanta Hawks, Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics and John Wall of the Washington Wizards.

Even the most nitpicky of analysts could not find fault with the vast majority of the players included on the two rosters, apart from very few names. Anthony Davis, for instance, is the obvious star but his Pelicans have not been exactly great this year. LaMarcus Aldridge hasn’t had a particularly stellar season on the Spurs and Isaiah Thomas’ Celtics are only trying to squeeze their way into the playoff contention.

A few names are also noticeably absent from the list. Blake Griffin, the star of the scandal of the year was not included, most probably because of an injury that would prevent him from playing anyway. Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki, perennial All-Stars also didn’t make the cut. Damian Lillard, the man who has been carrying the Portland Trailblazers on his back this season is also absent from the list.

All in all, the rosters are set, the time and the place are set as well and we can look forward to another exhibition of the best the NBA has to offer this season.
