The New York Jets seem to be the most cursed team in the NFL, and this is yet another example of how the franchise just can’t seem to catch a break. A dispute broke out in the locker room yesterday where linebacker IK Enemkpali apparently punched starting quarterback Geno Smith in the face and broke his jaw in two places.
According to early reports, Smith is going to be out for six to 10 weeks, which means that he is going to probably miss the first game of the season at best and the first two months at worst. This is a huge setback for the struggling Jets, who have not had a stable situation at quarterback in many years.
Reports from camp were encouraging regarding the third year quarterback, with many reporters saying that this could be a breakout year for Smith. Apparently, the dispute was over $600 dollars that Smith owed Enemkpali for a plane ticket. Enemkpali has been released by the team and will probably never play football again.
