Derek Jeter’s last game of his 20 year career at Yankees Stadium could not have ended in a better way.
These are the types of things that you can’t write about, and another reminder of why people love the game of baseball so much.
With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Yankees shortstop and captain drove in the winning run with what is now the last hit he will ever have in New York as a member of the Yankees.
Jeter drove in the winning run, with Antoan Richardson running from second base to score and gave the Yankees a 6-5 win. Jeter’s last professional game will be in Boston.
And even though he said that he will not play shortstop, he said that he will participate in the game in some capacity so that he can say farewell to the fans in Boston as well.
