Even before this MLB season kicked off, pretty much everyone saw the Chicago Cubs as one of the premier teams of the season. It is only the end of June, but they have already confirmed their status as the main pretenders to take the National League.
In the last seven games, however, the Cubs have dropped six games and their record stands at 48-26 at the moment. And while the Chicago team still has the best run differential and the best winning percentage, there is a team rearing its head in the West. This team won 13 out of the last 15 games and their record is actually better than the Cubs’.
We are, of course, talking about the San Francisco Giants who are seriously gunning for Cubs’ spot as the NL’s best ball team.
The Giants are simply a well-constructed team and most of their star players are having a great season, starting with Johnny Cueto and Madison Bumgarner, probably the best starting duo in the country. Hunter Pence and Matt Duffy went down because of injuries, but other players stepped up and there seems to be no stopping them.
It is far too early to tell, but it is starting to feel like MLB’s National League is going to be decided between the Cubs and the Giants.
