Even though it hasn’t been made official, it looks like we have our first huge trade of the NFL off season. According to reports from NFL insiders, the Philadelphia Eagles are going to trade their franchise running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso.
The Bills new head coach Rex Ryan will be looking to instate a rush-heavy offense, due to the fact that the team does not have anything close to a trustworthy quarterback on their roster, and getting the star running back seems to be a perfect place to start.
What the Eagles get is a young linebacker who, while promising, is coming off ACL surgery. Alonso, of course, played college in Oregon under Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, who hasn’t made it a secret that he would like to get as many of his old college players on his team as possible.
Even though the Eagles lose their star runner, they also make a lot of salary cap room by handing off McCoy’s hefty salary to Buffalo as well.
