Atlanta Falcons’ Star’s Brother Shot Dead


According to reports from NFL media, the half-brother of Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Roddy White was shot and killed last weekend. According to reports, the shooting took place in a nightclub in James Island, South Carolina.

The Falcons released a statement saying that Roddy and his family can count on support from the organization during this very trying time for them. White’s half-brother, Tyrone Moore Jr., was 21 years old. According to police officials in Charleston, South Carolina, he died of a gunshot wound.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank said that the entire organization is sadden to hear about the death of White’s half-brother. He also extended deepest sympathies from the entire organization and the fans to Roddy, his mother and the entire extended family.

The shooting took place on Saturday morning at about 3am. Witnesses said that the altercation that Moore was involved in took place outside of a local club and that several gunshots were fired, one of which hit and fatally wounded Moore. He was taken to the Medical University Hospital in Charleston and was pronounced dead later that morning.

There is no information available to the public yet regarding the shooting, but a through police investigation is underway. According to reports, Moore had been living with White in Atlanta over the past several years.

White is coming of an injury plagued last season. Before suffering an injury last year, he had played 133 games straight for the Falcons. He was battling an ankle and hamstring injury early last year, because of which he got off to a very slow start statistically. He missed the first game of his nine year season in week seven of the 2013 season and is looking to come back healthy this year to the team.

When healthy, Roddy is one of the best offensive weapons in the league and together with Julio Jones, makes on the best wide receiver tandems in the entire NFL.

The NFL has also expressed grief for the death and the league has sent its best wishes to White and the rest of the family.
