When it comes to the NBA, there have always been surprising players who no one thought would be as good as they turned out to be, but ended up having solid careers. Then there are players who absolutely didn’t pan out in any shape or form. Here are some of the worst basketball players to ever play professionally in the NBA.
1. OLIVER MILLER
He wasn’t the first “Big O” in the NBA – that name had been rightly assigned to Oscar Robertson, who actually earned it on account of being a truly great player. In Oliver’s case, the reference was simply to his stature.
Oliver Miller will be remembered as one of the biggest basketball players ever – the 6-foot-9 Phoenix Suns center’s weight ranged from 280 to 300 pounds. Miller struggled with his size ever since he was a young boy. During his days with the Arizona Razorbacks, he was frequently advised to take care of his weight but he kept neglecting this advice even when he started his NBA career.
He spent nine seasons in the league, and at one point he reportedly weighed 375 pounds. His performance, on the other hand, wasn’t nearly as impressive as his size. After he quit the Suns, he tried for a while with the Harlem Globetrotters, but the team soon ditched him for being physically and mentally unfit for the team.
